HR Advisor

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, England (£22 - 23 per hour)

This is an exciting opportunity for a talented HR professional to join a high performing, supportive and valued team. You will be responsible for providing operational support for staff and managers, alongside the development and implementation of policies and practices, promoting effective communication and engagement of employees.

You will be working for one of the world’s largest independent biotechnology companies in a fast paced, global environment. This is an exciting year for the company with a focus on building talent and employee engagement.


Key Duties

  • First point of contact and subject matter expert for all UK and Ireland HR policy and process queries 

  • Ensure all relevant policies and processes are reviewed, updated and compliant with legislation at all times 

  • Manage day-to-day relationships with external service suppliers/vendors  

  • Coaching of managers through employee relations and performance management situations, ensuring processes are managed and reviewed appropriately

  • Ensure all employee files are up to date, accurate and ‘inspection ready’ 

  • Preparation of documentation as required including new hire contracts and changes to employment terms and conditions 

  • Coordination of new hire orientation events 

  • Preparation of data to enable payroll processes 

  • Produce and provide analysis of HR metrics to enable business insights 

Experience, Skills and Knowledge:

Successful candidates will:

  • Hold an HR, Business or similar degree and be CIPD qualified (or nearing completion)

  • Have a strong working knowledge of UK employment law and associated best practice

  • Demonstrate previous experience of coaching managers through employee relations and performance management issues

  • Have excellent working knowledge of MS Office (advanced Excel) and HR systems (preferably Workday)

Additional Information

Location: Cambridge Science Park

Vacancy Type: Temporary for 12 months (via agency) 

Hourly Rate: Equivalent to c£40,000 per annum

Hours: 37.5 (08.30 start with early finish on a Friday)
