Job Hoarding

Posted on: 19th Jul 2016 by: Ann Pettengell

A recent survey by CV-Library has revealed that 49.8% of candidates have admitted to accepting multiple job roles and using them as a platform for negotiation with potential employers in an attempt to secure the best job offer and salary.  This latest trend, known as 'Job Hoarding' is making recruiters and hiring managers have to compete even harder for the best candidates.  The research also revealed that:

  • 80.8% of job hunters would accept more than one job offer for up to two weeks
  • 77.2% of UK professionals believe it's reasonable to accept more than one job offer
  • 64% said they would accept a job role that they were unsure of whilst continuing their job search
  • 54.8% would reveal what another company was offering when negotiating a job offer

We already knew that it was a candidate-driven market, but this latest trend puts even more emphasis on the need to act fast and offer broader job benefits such as flexible working and annual bonus schemes, as well as a competitive salary.
