Due to business growth, we are currently assisting a global biotech company with the recruitment of a Financial Accountant in a newly created position within their team of finance professionals. Reporting to senior management, this role is largely focussed on the control and processing of high value sales rebates, ensuring timely and accurate accruals and rebate payments. Successful candidates will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience of processing and accounting for sales rebates, high level of accuracy and attention to detail, IT literacy, numeracy and the ability to work in a demanding, high performance environment, handling multiple priorities to meet tight timelines.

Key Duties

  • Ensure the adequacy of rebate accrual balances through monthly reporting, reconciliation and analysis
  • Ensure the accuracy of sales reporting by monitoring daily sales and maintaining manual sales accruals
  • Close collaboration with Commercial Team to ensure agreements are accurately reflected within sales rebate accrual programs in internal pricing systems
  • Reporting, analysis and testing to support quarterly SOX sign offs and internal controls
  • Maintain documentation to facilitate subsequent internal and external audit
  • Process and validate customer rebate claims using internal contracts and pricing systems
  • Troubleshoot and resolve queries with rebate claims through prompt communication with Commercial Team and directly with customers
  • Submission of quarterly government sales rebate returns

Experience, Skills and Knowledge

  • Qualified or part qualified accountant (QBE will be considered if able to demonstrate significant experience of processing and accounting for sales rebates)
  • Highly numerate and analytical with excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent IT skills, including a high level of Excel proficiency and experience of using ERP and reporting tools
  • Demonstrated successful experience in working in a demanding, high performance work environment and ability to work under pressure or to tight timelines
  • Experience of processing and accounting for sales rebates
  • Experience with SAP, VISTEX, Business Objects (BOBJ)
  • Pharmaceutical industry experience would be an advantage
