Job description

We are welcoming applications from experienced IT Technicians, for a temporary role, working for a fabulous organisation with an outstanding reputation.

Your primary role will be to provide first and second line support for the IT services of the department, including the problem solving of routine technical issues.

Applicants will need to be able to demonstrate previous experience within an IT support-based role, with the ability to manage and prioritise tasks. With excellent communication skills, you will be confident liaising with colleagues, to deliver training on best practice for software solutions.

Please note that this is a temporary role until December 2022. The role will be considered on a full-time or part-time basis (minimum 3 days a week)

Principle Responsibilities:

  • Act as the routine contact point, receiving and handling a broad range of requests for support, providing information to fulfil requests or enable resolution
  • Provide first line investigation and diagnosis and promptly allocate unresolved issues as appropriate
  • Assist with the implementation of agreed remedies and preventative measures
  • Install or remove hardware and/or software, using supplied installation instructions and tools including, where appropriate, handover to the client
  • Report details of all hardware/software items that have been installed and removed so that configuration management records can be updated
  • Conduct tests, correct malfunctions and document results in accordance with agreed procedures
  • Review change requests
  • Maintain accurate records of user requests, contact details and outcomes
  • Use application management software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics
  • Carry out agreed operational procedures, including network configuration, installation and maintenance
  • Monthly audit of computer equipment and location(s)
  • Uses database management system software and tools to collect agreed performance statistics
  • Record details of test and live system of pre and post patching/upgrades to capture configuration and highlight any differences between environments
  • Contribute to the development of installation procedures and standards and the creation of support documentation

The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate:

  • Experience of working in an IT department, working at a tactical or operational level to deliver technical solutions
  • Demonstrable experience in a specific area of IT
  • Ability to develop and maintain your own knowledge in your field
  • Ability to manage and prioritise own tasks
  • Able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing
  • Highly proactive and enthusiastic
  • Ability to deliver training on best practice to users for software solutions
  • Educated to HND, HNC, level 4/5 vocational qualifications or equivalent level of practical experience
