Role Outline

We are delighted to be assisting our client with the recruitment of an Operational Support Officer, to fulfil a 12-month temporary assignment.  The overall goal of this role is to support senior operational staff across a portfolio of activities including finance, HR, grant management, research support and general administration.

The role will suit someone who has previous work experience in a University, Higher Educational or Medical Research setting, especially those who have worked with finance/HR elements, grants administration, and have administrative experience including minute taking, diary management and other logistical support. 

Alongside demonstrable experience across the portfolio of activities, you will be a proactive individual, able to multitask across a range of duties and responsibilities and have the tenacity to work alongside busy staff members to ensure deliverables are met.

Key Duties

  • Administration, including diary Management and minute taking
  • Grant administration
  • Finance administration, such as purchase orders, processing expenses
  • HR duties, such as recruitment, appraisals, monitoring probation, pay and reward, dealing with leavers
  • Other general administration

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Experience with HR processes (recruitment, employee management)
  • Experience with any of budgeting, procurement and/or financial management
  • Experience with diary management, minute taking, administrative support for senior staff (Head of Department, Chief Operating Officers, and other Head/Lead equivalents) Good communication and listening skills
  • Experience supporting research projects (coordination and/or grant application)

Desirable skills & Experience

  • Events Management skills
  • Experience with University Finance System (CUFS)
  • Web development expertise
  • Experience with University HR policy

Additional information

Vacancy Type: Temporary until August 2021

Hours: Full-time, 37 hours a week

Start Date: Negotiable

Location: Hills Road, Cambridge. Either office based, remote working or a combination of both
